Prof Zubaidur RahmanFounding VC of ZNRF University of Management Sciences
Professor Rahman is the founding Vice Chancellor of ZNRF University of Management Sciences. He was a Lecturer of the Department of Finance at the University of Dhaka in 1975. He received his Ph.D. degree in Finance from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, in 1982. He was a Professor in the School of Business and Economics at the State University of New York, from 1985 to 1991. Dr. Rahman has worked as a Visiting Professor at the University of Bocconi, Italy and a Visiting Scholar at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, and Moscow State University, Russia. He has worked as a Senior Professional Staff for about fifteen years since 2000, at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington DC. His work at the World Bank mainly focused on institutional capacity building activities to assist Bank’s member countries in strengthening institutional underpinnings of financial transparency, accountability and governance in both private and public sectors of the economy.
Professor Quamrul Alam Professor of International Business & Strategy at the Central Queensland University in Melbourne, Australia.
Dr. Quamrul Alam is a Professor of International Business and Strategy at Central Queensland University. Before joining Central Queensland University, Professor Quamrul Alam worked at Monash University, La Trobe University, and Victoria University of Australia. Professor Quamrul Alam has a strong research and project management background. He has published over 50 journal articles, presented over 100 conference papers and reports, six books, 21 book chapters and chaired many sessions in international public management and governance conferences. Professor Alam has supervised 20 PhD research topics including public governance, regulatory governance, public sector leadership, public-private partnership, economic geography and international business, and local government and disaster management. Professor Alam conducted training programs on leadership and governance, and capacity building in the public sector organisation for public servants from Bangladesh, India, China, Indonesia, and Vietnam. These programs were funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Australia, UNDP, and the Bangladesh Government. Professor Alam received over A$3 million in grants. Professor Alam’s research articles have been published in the Australian Journal of Public Administration, Public Administration and Development, Administration and Society, Public Management Review, Journal of Local Government Studies, International Review of Administrative Sciences, International Journal of Public Administration Thunderbird Journal of Business Review, European Journal of Management, Journal of Management History, South Asia, Journal of Banking and Finance, and Journal of Business Ethics. Professor Alam has co-edited a special issue of Public Administration and Development in 2021.
Prof Firoz AlamProgram Director, School of Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical & Manufacturing), RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia
Dr Firoz Alam is a Professor in the School of Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing) at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. He completed his PhD in vehicle aerodynamics from the same university in 2000. He received his Master’s degree (combined with Bachelors) in Aeronautical Engineering with Honours (First Class First) from Riga Civil Aviation Engineers Institute, former Soviet Republic of Latvia in 1991. Prof Alam is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia, Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), and APEC Engineer.
Tahmina ShailyCEO, Shoilee Creative Studio & Entrepreneurial Creatives
Tahmina Shaily, Fellow EDRC, is an entrepreneur, designer, trainer, and Influencer. She founded her own brand ’Shoilee’ more than a decade ago. Her close involvement with the women entrepreneurs has convinced her of the need to reinvigorate the capacity building of the women entrepreneurs for creating an effective impact. This has led her to organize a women-centric entrepreneurship development and training enterprise – the ‘Entrepreneurial Creatives’. After graduating in Commerce, Ms. Tahmina Shaily started her career in the media industry as a voice artist, scriptwriter, and researcher with RTV in 2006. She joined the country's leading daily 'Prothom Alo', as a feature writer in 2008. She then served as Program Producer and Radio Jokey at ‘ABC Radio’ in 2009 and later as a Senior Sub- Editor of ‘Banik Barta’ in 2011. In 2014, Ms. Shaily joined ‘Radio Shadhin’ as a Program Producer and Radio Jokey. She launched her own brand through the ‘Shoilee Creative Studio’ in 2012, where she is also the Lead designer. Ms. Shaily likes to introduce herself as a Jewelry maker, a business where her passion for designing and creativity has blended uniquely. Her extensive experience in jewelry manufacturing at home and abroad has led her to guide, develop and actively participate in the manufacturing of her own products. She has worked on many design and communication projects with reputed corporate clients and creative professionals of the country and exhibited her products at home and abroad. An innovative event organizer, and opinion builder, Ms. Shaily has a frequent presence in print and electronic media events. An enthusiastic photographer with a keen sense of aesthetics and a graduate from the country’s leading photography training institute ‘Pathsala’, she is also a seasoned traveler and a gourmet.
Zia RahmanProgram Director, EDRC
Zia Rahman, Program Director, EDRC, served with the Government of Bangladesh for three decades as a member of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) cadre. His interests include technology transfer and innovative public policy. He served in the Ministries of Railways; Forest, Environment & Climate Change; Industries; Power, Energy & Mineral Resources as Additional Secretaries; and in different Ministries and departments in various capacities including the Finance Division, Ministry of Public Administration, Board of Investment (now BIDA), Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Communications (Road Transport); the National Academy for Planning & Development and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing. He has also worked on lien from the govt., with a Sino-Bangla Govt. joint venture as Vice President for five years and helped develop the CNG industry with the support from UNDP and Environment Canada. He later pioneered the Bus Rapid Transit technology in the road transport sector with ITDP, which was later promoted by the World Bank. Zia Rahman has substantive experience in energy and renewable energy development and environmental projects and served with a number of large number of national Power and Energy production, distribution, and transmission utility companies and corporations like the Petrobangla, BPC, GTCL, NWPGCL as their Board Members and Chair to PGCL He has traveled to Australia, Canada, USA, UK, Denmark, Norway, Germany, Italy, Columbia, Malaysia, South Korea, Lebanon, Turkey, Antigua, Spain, Greece, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Singapore, France, Poland, and India and participated to attend many seminars and workshops and training programs. He also led the first LNG negotiating team of the GoB to the US and participated in other important government delegations at home and abroad. He received his Honors and Masters in Public Administration from the University of Dhaka.
